Beneath the Surface of My Anger

“In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.”
Anger is a loud emotion. It screams, it yells, it demands attention. But what's going on beneath the surface?
The Apostle Paul writes about anger in Ephesians, but he's not talking about the kind of anger that makes headlines. He's talking about the everyday, under-the-surface kind.
“In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.”
Notice what Paul doesn't say. He doesn't say 'don't be angry.' He says 'in your anger, do not sin.' There's a difference. Anger itself isn't the problem. It's what we do with it.
So what's beneath your anger? Is it hurt? Is it fear? Is it frustration? Naming it can be the first step to dealing with it in a way that doesn't give the devil a foothold.
