It's easy to get caught up in the highlight reels of others. Social media, news, even our friends' and family members' stories can make us feel like we're not measuring up.
The apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians about the dangers of comparison. He said that when we compare ourselves to others, we're not wise.
“We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.”
So what's the alternative? Instead of comparing ourselves to others, we can focus on our own journey. We can look to God for our worth and identity.
It's not always easy. There will be times when we feel like we're not good enough, when we feel like we're falling behind. But in those moments, we can choose to look to God, not to the highlight reels of others.
