Beyond the Labels We Give Ourselves

“What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”
We often define ourselves by the labels we give ourselves or others give us. But what happens when those labels no longer fit?
The apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians about the danger of elevating human leaders to a status that belongs only to God. He reminded them that he and Apollos were just servants, doing the work God had assigned to them.
“What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe,as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”
This mindset shift can be freeing. We don't have to be defined by our accomplishments or our failures. We are more than our labels.
So what does it mean to find your identity beyond the labels? It means looking to God as the source of your identity, rather than societal expectations or your own self-image.
