Rest in the Exhaustion
Written by OJ Aihie
Key Verse · Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Burnout is more than just being tired. It's the emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion that comes from prolonged stress, overwork, and lack of balance in life.
Jesus' invitation to rest is not just a suggestion, but a command. He says, 'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.'
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Notice the phrase 'weary and burdened'. That's us, when burnout hits. But Jesus offers rest, not just a quick fix or a temporary solution, but a deep, soul-level rest.
