When Doubt Meets Divine
By the Pace with Grace editorial team
Key Verse · Mark 9:24 (NIV)
“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
Doubt is not the opposite of faith, it's a part of the journey. The father in Mark 9 didn't say 'I have all the answers' or 'I'm completely sure'. He said 'I do believe, help me'.
He was honest about his doubt, and that's what made his faith real. It's okay to not have it all figured out, it's okay to question.
“If you can?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for one who believes." Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"”
The boy's father wasn't trying to convince himself or others that he had it all together. He was bringing his doubts to the one person who could help.
When we're honest about our doubts, we can start to heal. When we bring them to God, we can start to find peace.
