Beyond the Darkness You Feel

Key Verse · Psalm 42:11 (NIV)
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
Depression can make you feel like you're drowning in darkness. It's hard to find hope when everything feels hopeless.
The Psalmist knew this feeling. He wrote about it in Psalm 42. He's honest about his emotions, but he doesn't stay there.
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
He tells his soul to put hope in God. This isn't a command to 'get over it' or 'be happy.' It's a reminder that God is present, even in the darkness.
You are not alone in this feeling. It's okay to not be okay. And it's okay to ask for help. Therapy, medication, and talking to a trusted friend or family member can all be part of the journey towards healing.
