Beyond the Need for Validation

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

We're wired to crave validation. It's natural to want to be seen and loved and accepted by others.

But what happens when that validation becomes the measure of our self-worth? When the likes and comments and affirmation of others dictate how we feel about ourselves?

The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

This verse isn't about ignoring external validation altogether. It's about recognizing that God's validation is what truly matters. And His validation isn't based on our performance or appearance, but on our heart.

So, what would it look like to find our self-worth in God's validation, rather than the validation of others? To trust that we are enough, not because of what we do or how we look, but because of who we are in Christ?

God, I'm tired of seeking validation from others. Help me to find my self-worth in You, to trust that I am enough because of who I am in Christ. Give me the courage to look to You for validation, rather than the noise of the world. Amen.

When this hits in real life.
