Beyond the Need for Perfect

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.

The pressure to be perfect is real. It's the unspoken rule that you need to have it all together, all the time.

But what if I told you that's not how God sees you? That He's not waiting for you to get your act together before He loves you?

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.

Psalm 103:8-12

This Psalm was written by David, a guy who messed up big time. He knew what it was like to feel like he wasn't enough. But he also knew that God's love wasn't based on his performance.

You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to show up, imperfect and all.

God, I'm tired of trying to be perfect. I'm tired of feeling like I'm not enough. Help me remember that your love isn't based on my performance, but on your character. Meet me in my imperfection, and help me find freedom in being me. Amen.

When this hits in real life.
