For the Moment Anger Spikes

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.

Paul doesn't say 'don't be angry.' He says 'in your anger.' He assumes it's coming.

In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.

Ephesians 4:26-27

Anger isn't the issue. What you do with it is.

Anger usually points to something underneath. A boundary that got crossed. A grief that hasn't been named. A fear pretending to be rage.

Before you reply to the text, before you flip the table, before the post you're going to regret, ask yourself: what is this anger actually about?

God, I'm angry. I'm not going to pretend I'm not. Help me hold this without exploding. Help me see what's underneath it. Don't let the sun go down on a fight I didn't have to have. Amen.
