Learning to Breathe in the Pause

Written by

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Waiting is hard. It feels like a pause in the music, a break in the conversation. But what if this pause is not just a gap, but a chance to breathe?

David, the author of Psalm 27, knew a thing or two about waiting. He waited to become king, waited for God to rescue him from his enemies, waited for the promises of God to come true.

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Psalm 27:13-14

Waiting is not just about passing time, it's about being present in the moment. It's about taking a deep breath, feeling the weight of uncertainty, and choosing to trust God anyway.

So what does it mean to wait for the Lord? It means to trust that God is working, even when we can't see it. It means to trust that God is good, even when life is hard.

God, I don't like waiting. I want to know what's next, I want to see the plan. But I trust you, even when I don't understand. Help me breathe in the pause, and trust that you are working. Amen.

When this hits in real life.
