Releasing the Weight of Unforgiveness

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Unforgiveness is a weight that's hard to carry. It's the constant reminder of what someone did to you, the pain they caused, the trust they broke.

But here's the thing: forgiveness doesn't mean what they did was okay. It means you're choosing to release the weight of it.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew 6:14-15

Jesus isn't saying forgiveness is easy. He's saying it's necessary. For your freedom, for your healing, for your relationship with God.

You don't have to feel like forgiving someone to start the process. You just have to be willing to release the weight.

God, I don't know how to forgive. I don't know how to let go. But I know I need to. Help me release the weight of unforgiveness, not for their sake, but for mine. Help me find freedom in forgiveness. Amen.
