When Releasing the Weight Feels Like Losing Control
By the Pace with Grace editorial team
Key Verse · Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV)
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
Forgiveness can feel like a loss of control. Like we're letting someone off the hook, or that we're saying what they did was okay.
But what if forgiveness isn't about them at all? What if it's about us, and the weight we've been carrying around?
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
This isn't a command to forget, or to reconcile, or to pretend like everything is fine. It's an invitation to release the weight of resentment, and to trust that God will handle the rest.
It's a process, not a event. It's a journey, not a destination. And it's not always easy, or straightforward.
