When the Weight of the World Feels Like Too Much

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Some days the world feels like it's crushing you. The noise, the expectations, the pressure to keep going, it all feels like too much.

Jesus' words in Matthew 11 aren't about removing the weight, but about who you give it to. It's not about being strong enough, but about being willing to lay it down.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30

Notice the contrast: the world's weight versus Jesus' yoke. One is crushing, the other is easy. It's not that the yoke doesn't exist, it's just that it's designed for you, not to break you.

Today, what's one thing you can give to God, one weight you can lay down, even if it feels small?

God, today feels like too much. The weight is crushing me. I don't have the strength to carry it anymore. I'm giving it to you, not because I trust it will disappear, but because I trust you'll carry it with me. Amen.
