When the What-Ifs Keep You Up
By the Pace with Grace editorial team
Key Verse · Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be frightened, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Fear can be a loud voice, especially at night. It's the what-ifs, the maybes, the could-happens that keep you awake, making it hard to breathe.
The prophet Isaiah wrote to people who were facing real, physical threats. Not just hypotheticals, but actual armies and empires that wanted them destroyed.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be frightened, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; I say to you, 'Do not be afraid; I will help you.'”
God doesn't tell them to 'just be brave' or 'stop worrying.' He tells them He is with them, that He will strengthen and help them. It's not about the size of their fear, but the size of their God.
Tonight, name your what-ifs. Write them down, say them out loud. Then, next to each one, write 'God is with me.'
