When Your Thoughts Feel Like a Storm

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, 'Quiet! Be still!' Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

Picture this: a small boat tossed on a raging sea. The disciples are terrified. Waves crash around them as their minds spiral into panic. They cry out for help, fearing they will drown.

In the middle of this chaos, Jesus is right there. He stands up, speaks to the storm, and everything goes quiet. This isn't just a miracle; it's a lesson. It's about having peace in the midst of a storm.

Mark 4:39

Anxiety often feels like that storm. It can be loud and chaotic, making it hard to think clearly. In those moments, remember that you can bring your racing thoughts to Jesus. He doesn't promise to take the storm away, but He offers calm in the chaos.

Today, when your mind feels overwhelmed, pause and breathe. Take a moment to acknowledge the storm within you. Then, remind yourself that it's okay to ask for peace.

God, my mind feels like it's swirling with chaos right now. I feel overwhelmed, and I need your peace to quiet my thoughts. Help me to bring these worries to you and trust you with them. Please calm the storm inside me. Amen.
