If you searched bible verses for strength to keep going, life may feel heavier than you can carry right now. Maybe money is tight, a relationship is falling apart, your health is failing, or several hard things have piled up at once. Scripture does not pretend that hard seasons are easy. It is full of people who felt faint, wasted away, and wondered how long the trouble would last. But it also shows a God who gives strength for the next step, renews people from the inside day by day, and promises that suffering is not the end of the story. You do not have to feel strong to receive his strength. Below you will find NIV verses for strength to keep going, each with context and one practical step for today.

Question 1 of 4

How are you feeling right now?

Bible verses for this situation

Habakkuk 3:19

,NIV
“The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.”

Habakkuk wrote this after admitting that the fig tree may not bud and the fields may produce no food. In the middle of loss, he chose to find his strength in God.

Write down what is failing or missing in your life right now. Under it, write: The Sovereign LORD is my strength. Read both lines out loud.

Psalm 18:32

,NIV
“It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.”

David sang this after God rescued him from enemies and from Saul. He credits his endurance to God, not to his own toughness.

Before a hard conversation, appointment, or task today, pause and pray this verse in one breath: God, arm me with strength and keep my way secure.

Psalm 61:2

,NIV
“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

David prays while far from home and worn down. He asks God to lead him to a place of safety that is bigger and steadier than he is.

If your heart feels faint, you do not need a long prayer. Use David's words: Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Psalm 27:13-14

,NIV
“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”

David wrote this psalm while surrounded by threats and false accusations. He held on to hope that he would see God's goodness in this life, not only in the next.

Look back over the past month and write down one small sign of God's goodness, even a tiny one. Let it strengthen you to keep waiting.

2 Corinthians 4:16-17

,NIV
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

Paul had been beaten, imprisoned, and worn out by ministry. He calls those troubles light only in comparison to the glory ahead, and says God renews him daily.

Focus on today, not the whole season. Ask God for enough strength for this one day, and let tomorrow's strength come tomorrow.

Romans 5:3-5

,NIV
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

Paul explains that hard times are not wasted. God can use suffering to grow endurance and a hope that will not disappoint, rooted in his love.

You do not have to feel glad about your pain. Simply ask God: What perseverance or character are you growing in me through this?

1 Peter 5:10

,NIV
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”

Peter wrote to believers facing hostility and hardship. He promises that suffering is temporary and that God himself will restore and strengthen them.

Read this verse slowly and underline the words will himself restore you. Keep it somewhere you will see it each morning this week.

The thread running through these verses.

Scripture is honest that hard times wear us down, but it shows that God is the source of strength when ours runs out. He arms us with strength, leads us to a rock higher than ourselves, renews us inwardly day by day, uses suffering to grow perseverance and hope, and promises that after a little while he will restore us and make us strong.

This week, try this.

Pick one verse from this page, such as Psalm 18:32, and pray it each morning this week before you start your day. Write down one thing you need strength for today and one person you can ask for help. Hard seasons are not meant to be carried alone. If the weight of this season is leading to depression, hopelessness, or thoughts of not wanting to live, please reach out to a counselor, doctor, or trusted person. Common questions.

What Bible verses give strength to keep going?

Habakkuk 3:19, Psalm 18:32, Psalm 61:2, Psalm 27:13-14, 2 Corinthians 4:16-17, Romans 5:3-5, and 1 Peter 5:10 all speak about finding strength from God during hard seasons.

What does the Bible say about going through hard times?

The Bible is honest that believers face trouble. It also teaches that God renews us day by day, uses suffering to grow perseverance and hope, and promises to restore us, as 2 Corinthians 4:16 and 1 Peter 5:10 say.

How do I find strength from God when I feel weak?

Start small. Pray short, honest prayers like Psalm 61:2, read one verse each morning, and ask others to pray with you. God's strength often comes one day and one step at a time.

Does God cause hard times?

Scripture says we live in a broken world where suffering happens, and it does not give simple answers for every hardship. It does promise that God is with you in it and can bring good, perseverance, and hope through it.

Is it okay to feel weak during a hard season?

Yes. David said his heart grew faint, and Paul said he was wasting away outwardly. Feeling weak is not a lack of faith. It is a place where God's strength meets you.

What is a prayer for strength to keep going?

Try praying: God, I am worn out and I cannot carry this alone. Arm me with strength for today, keep my way secure, and help me hold on to hope that you will restore me.
