Faith in the Inbetween

Key Verse · Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NIV)
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
Faith is often talked about in extremes: the mountaintops of triumph or the valleys of doubt. But what about the inbetween moments, when faith feels like a fragile thread?
Habakkuk wrote his book in a time of uncertainty, when the prophet's own faith was tested by the circumstances around him.
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
His declaration of faith wasn't rooted in his circumstances, but in the character of God. It's a faith that says, 'Even when everything around me seems to be falling apart, I will choose to rejoice in the Lord.'
This kind of faith isn't about ignoring the hard questions or the difficult emotions, but about learning to sit with them in the presence of God.
