Finding Your Table in a Crowded Room

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, 'This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.'

Have you ever walked into a crowded room and felt like you didn't belong? Like everyone else had their own table, their own crew, and you were just a solo diner looking for a seat?

That's what the Pharisees thought about Jesus. They thought he was eating with the wrong people, welcoming the wrong crowd.

Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, 'This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.'

Luke 15:1-2

But Jesus didn't just welcome anyone. He welcomed the people who felt like they didn't belong. The people who felt like they were on the outside looking in.

And that's the thing about belonging. It's not about finding the right table or the right crowd. It's about finding the people who will welcome you, no matter what.

God, I feel like I'm standing in a crowded room, looking for a seat. Help me find my table, help me find my people. Remind me that you welcome me, no matter what. Amen.

When this hits in real life.
