Healing After the Wounds of Life

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Healing is a process, not a product. It's the slow, careful work of God in our lives, binding up the wounds we've accumulated along the way.

The Psalmist writes about a God who heals the brokenhearted, who binds up their wounds. This isn't a quick fix, but a careful, intricate process.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Psalm 147:3

Notice the verb 'binds'. It's a word that implies care, attention, and patience. God's healing isn't a rushed job, but a meticulous one.

What does this mean for us? It means that healing is a journey, not a destination. It means that we don't have to have it all figured out, or all put together, to be healed.

God, I'm tired of carrying these wounds. I'm tired of trying to heal myself. Meet me in this place, with your careful, binding work. Heal my heart, and help me trust you in the process. Amen.

When this hits in real life.
