Learning to Wait Without Losing Faith

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Waiting is hard, especially when it feels like everyone around you is moving forward. You're stuck, and it's easy to wonder if God has forgotten you.

The Bible doesn't shy away from this feeling. David, in Psalm 27, is waiting too. He's not just waiting for anything; he's waiting for God to act, to move, to show up.

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Psalm 27:13-14

The command to wait is paired with a command to be strong and take heart. It's not a passive waiting; it's an active choice to trust that God is working, even when you can't see it.

So, how do you wait without losing faith? You remind yourself of God's character, of his promises, of his presence in your life.

God, waiting is hard. It feels like everyone else is moving, and I'm stuck. Help me trust your timing, your character, your presence. Give me the strength to wait with hope, not despair. Amen.

When this hits in real life.
