When Faith Feels Like a Seed

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

He replied, 'Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.'

It's easy to feel like faith is a grand, visible thing. But sometimes, faith feels like a small seed, buried deep in the soil of your heart.

The mustard seed is tiny, almost insignificant. Yet it holds within it the potential for a massive tree. Jesus used this imagery to show that even the smallest faith can create immense change.

He replied, 'Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.'

Matthew 17:20

Sometimes you might think your faith is too small to matter. But every seed needs time, nourishment, and the right environment to grow. It's okay to start small.

You can nurture your faith by surrounding yourself with supportive people, diving into Scripture, and practicing small acts of trust. They may seem little, but they count.

God, sometimes my faith feels too small to matter. I'm looking for ways to nurture it, but it's hard to see the growth. Help me trust that even a tiny seed can become something great. Amen.
