When Your Purpose Feels Like a Whisper

Key Verse · Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
You scroll, you binge, you ask, "What am I supposed to be doing?" The answer feels like static, not a clear signal.
Paul wrote Ephesians while he was in prison, likely in Rome around AD 60. He wasn't preaching to a crowd, he was writing a letter to believers who felt scattered, under pressure, and unsure of their future.
“For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Notice the phrase "handiwork." It implies craft, intentional shaping. Not a vague "some day" but a specific design. Your purpose isn't a grand movie plot; it's a series of small, good works.
God prepared them in advance, but he also gave you the tools to discover them, your gifts, your interests, the people who need you. It's okay if the list looks messy right now.
Take one concrete step today. Choose a task that feels useful, even if it's tiny. It could be replying to a friend, cleaning a space, or sharing a story that helped you. Those actions are the "good works" that reveal the larger picture.
