Disappointment can steal the future you pictured. These verses make room for the ache and still point you toward a God who rebuilds hope.

When the job falls through, the relationship ends, the healing takes longer, or the plan collapses, disappointment can feel like proof that hope was naive. Scripture does not scold you for hurting.

Question 1 of 4
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Context
David names nearness for the brokenhearted. Crushed spirit is not a disqualification from God's care.
For your life
If you feel crushed, start here: God is close.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Context
Hope is tied to the God of hope and the Spirit's power.
For your life
Ask the God of hope to fill what disappointment emptied.
“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”
Context
Wisdom admits deferred hope can make the heart sick.
For your life
Tell God the deferred hope by name.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Context
God speaks newness to people who knew loss. A way in the wilderness is hope after disappointment.
For your life
Ask God to help you perceive one new thing without erasing the grief of what was lost.
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
Context
Paul stacks pressure with limits. Disappointment does not get the last word.
For your life
Circle the phrase that fits: not abandoned, not destroyed.
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Context
Spoken to exiles facing a long stay away from home. Hope and future are God's plan language in a hard chapter.
For your life
Hold hope and a future as God's word over your next chapter, even if this chapter hurt.

More on Hope
Hopeless is not a dramatic word for you right now. It is the quiet conviction that nothing good is coming. These Bible verses are for that empty place, not for people who still have easy optimism left.
Waiting can feel like life paused while everyone else moves on. These verses sit with the delay and point hope toward God, not a fake countdown.
Illness can drain your body and your hope at the same time. These verses do not promise easy answers, but they hold out a hope that pain cannot take away.
When you cannot see what is ahead, it is easy to assume the worst. These verses point you to a God who already holds your future and has not run out of good.
Suffering can make hope feel far away. These verses do not pretend the pain is small. They point you to a God who stays with you in it and promises it will not have the final word.
Loss can make hope feel far away or even wrong to want. These verses show that God's hope does not erase your grief. It holds you through it.
Depression can make hope feel impossible to reach. These verses do not ask you to feel hopeful first. They hold on to hope for you until you can hold it yourself.
