The Bible offers comfort through God's nearness, compassion, peace, and the promise that pain will not last forever. Psalm 34:18, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, Matthew 5:4, Psalm 23:4, and Revelation 21:4 are key passages for grief, loneliness, and hurt. Biblical comfort makes room for tears and can arrive through prayer, people, counseling, and practical care.
Comfort in Scripture does not erase the hurt or rush you toward a happy ending. It begins with God drawing near, making room for tears, and giving people strength to stay with each other.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Meaning: God is close to brokenhearted and crushed people, not waiting at a distance for them to recover.

Meaning: God renews weary people, sometimes with enough strength simply to keep walking.
Context

Let comfort give enough strength to walk; you do not need to soar today.

Questions
Psalm 34:18 speaks to a broken heart, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 names God as the source of compassion, Matthew 5:4 promises comfort to mourners, and Psalm 23:4 offers presence in a dark valley. Start with the verse that most closely names your hurt.
John 11:35 shows Jesus weeping, Matthew 5:4 blesses mourners, and Revelation 21:4 promises an end to death and pain. These passages make room for grief while holding Christian hope.
Comfort is not always immediate or emotional. A verse may offer words, presence, or a next step before your body feels relief. Keep the passage gentle, and add human support, rest, therapy, or medical care when needed.
Yes. Second Corinthians describes comfort as something received and shared. A therapist, doctor, pastor, friend, support group, meal, or practical help can all become ways care reaches you.
Try: "God of all comfort, stay close to my broken heart. Give me peace, wise help, and enough strength for today. Show me who can sit with me in this pain. Amen."
Do not carry that alone. Contact a qualified counselor, doctor, or trusted person now. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about self-harm, call or text 988 in the U.S. or contact local emergency services.
